VALLEY GLEN - Some days, all you need is a few runs and some solid pitching and defense. And then other days, even ten runs on eleven hits isn't enough.
After the Bucs put up a "6" on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning on Saturday, the OC Pirates responded with a 7-spot of their own in the top of the third. The Bucs tied the game and then took a one run lead by the end of the sixth, but the Pirates scored four more before the seventh inning stretch, and held on for an 11-10 road victory.
On top of connecting for eleven hits, the OC Pirates' four defensive errors helped the Bucs keep it close, leading to eight unearned runs.
Jacob Lopez was a highlight on the scoresheet, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBI. Dane Nakatsuka also had a day, with a double, a run scored, and 4 RBI.
The Bucs face the Oilers on the road Sunday at 1pm.
