Magnificent starting pitching wasn't enough for the GCCL Bucs Friday, as they fell to Team Victory 4-2 in Game 1 of their three game set at Bishop Canyon on Friday.
Bucs RHP Hunter Edwards did his job and then some on Friday. The starting pitcher earned a quality start, rare in summer ball. Edwards pitched 6 innings officially, but also hurled in the unofficial seventh inning, after the Bucs had already lost. Officially he totaled 6IP, 4H, 4R, 2ER, 1BB, 1HP, and 7Ks.
"I just kinda kept them off balance by throwing multiple different pitches," Edwards said.
On the other side of the ball, Troy leaf had a big day and showed off both patience and power. He was 1-2 with a double and two walks, reaching base three times and scoring a run. His run came as part of a ninth inning push by the Bucs that fell two runs short.
The GCCL Bucs finish the series against team Victory with two 7-inning games Saturday June 18th at the Glendale Sports Complex. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 8:30am.
