The GCCL Bucs staged a late rally in the bottom of the 7th to win Game 1, 5-4 of a doubleheader vs the California Gold Sox Friday afternoon at Los Angeles Valley College. The victory clinched the series win.

“We took team at bats, we appreciate team at bars where the next guy up just keeps the line moving, that mentality,” said Head Coach Reuben Navoa.

The Bucs fell behind 2-0 in the third inning, but answered back In the fourth when Jaden Rez scored on a passed ball to cut the Gold Sox lead to 2-1.

The Bucs then took the lead in the 5th inning on an RBI single by Michael Choi that scored Yahir Garcia and an RBI single by Eric Carrero. After a scoreless 6th, the Gold Sox added two runs in the top of the 7th to set up a do or die bottom of the 7th for the Bucs.

The Bucs would reach base on two walks before Eric Carrero came to the plate 1 out away from a loss. He delivered another RBI single to score Michael Choi and tie the game at 4. The next two batters would walk for the Bucs, resulting in a walk off walk victory after Anthony Deluca drew a walk.

The Bucs will look to sweep the second game of the doubleheader at about 2:15 Friday afternoon at LAVC.
