L.A. Legends Edge Out Pro-Am Bucs in 10-11 Showdown



On Saturday, June 17th, the Pro-Am Bucs and the L.A. Legends clashed in an intense baseball battle at Long Beach City College. With a 7-1 record, the Bucs were eager to extend their winning streak and secure another victory. However, it was the Legends who emerged triumphant in a closely contested game, with a final score of 10-11.


Right from the start, both teams exhibited immense offensive determination. The Bucs took an early lead, scoring three runs with 1 in the 1st and 2 in the 4th inning. This showcased the team's ability to come out hot and capitalize on scoring opportunities. The Legends responded in the 5th inning, putting together two runs, narrowing the gap to 3-2.


As the game progressed, the Bucs fought hard to maintain their advantage. In the 7th inning, they added two more runs, extending their lead and appearing poised for victory. However, their hopes were dashed when the Legends staged an impressive comeback in the same inning. With an offensive surge, the Legends scored four runs, snatching the lead from the Bucs for the first time in the game.


The tension was palpable as the game entered the final inning. Both teams refused to back down, unleashing an offensive onslaught. The 9th inning turned into a nail-biting affair, with each team battling fiercely and scoring five runs apiece. Spectators were treated to a breathtaking display of skill and determination.


Throughout the game, several players stood out with exceptional performances. Collin Bell, the Bucs' right fielder, showcased his prowess at the plate. He scored two runs and drove in two RBI's while also delivering a crucial double. Alexander Olvera demonstrated his offensive capabilities, contributing three of the team's ten runs and making solid contact with two hits. Troy May also made significant contributions, scoring a run, collecting two hits, and adding two RBI's, including a sac fly.


Pitcher Josh Dipiertro led the charge for the Bucs, showing superb control and striking out seven batters in six innings of work. His presence and skill provided a solid foundation for the team's pitching efforts.


Although the outcome didn't favor the Bucs, their resilience and competitive spirit were evident throughout the game. Despite the disappointing loss, the Bucs maintain a solid 7-2 record, positioning them well as the season progresses.


Looking ahead, the Pro-Am Bucs are set to play a doubleheader against the Arroyo Seco Sentinels on Sunday, June 18th at Los Angeles Valley College. The Bucs aim to regroup, learn from their experience, and continue success on the baseball diamond. As the season unfolds, fans can expect more thrilling encounters and captivating performances from the Pro-Am Bucs.
