The SBL Bucs shook off an early deficit and scored 8 straight runs en route to an 8-5 victory over the IE Bucs Friday afternoon at Citrus College Stadium.

The Bucs surrendered a run early on in bottom off the 1st, but would take the lead with the teams first home run off of the year on a 2-run bomb by Robert Pitts in the second to give the team a 2-1 lead.

“You know it was gonna be a fastball up, it felt great, felt great rounding the bases and everything,” Pitts said.

Right handed starter Ricardo Martinez would then pitch four strong frames for the SBL Bucs, striking out three and allowing just one run which came in his first inning of work. After three solid innings of scoreless work from Jakub Amado, the Bucs would add on five more runs in the top of the 7th and 9th innings to take an 8-1 lead.

Kai Moran would reach base all 5 times he came up to bat, recording 2 extra base hits and 3 hits total in a monster day for him at the plate. “I’m feeling pretty good stuck to my approach early on, caught a ball on the outside of the plate and took it the other way,” Moran said.

The Bucs win moves them to 4-1 and 3-0 in the sunset baseball league this season. The Bucs next game will be at 11am at La Valley College in Valley Glen tomorrow vs the OC Pirates.
