The Buccaneers extended their season-opening win streak to three games with a pair of victories over the Chicago Cubs Scout Team on Sunday at LAVC.
As one of the last non-league dates before Sunset League play commences, The Bucs cruised to a 5-3 win in the first game, and then rallied and held on to win the second one 7-6.
Standout players included Brent Swearingen, who went 2-for-3 with a double, a homer, and two runs scored, and the Bucs pitching staff, who combined for nine strikeouts and allowed just five hits. In the second game, seven different Buccaneers stole a base, including on two double-steal plays. Drew Atherton recorded two strikeouts for a total of five this season – currently a team high.
The Bucs play on the road against the SoCal Shepherds on Wednesday afternoon, and then host the South Bay Sliders on Thursday. Full schedule at this link.
